The week's adventures started with an old Culver friend coming to stay with me in Dublin for a few days (Hi, Meg!)... we traveled to Belfast for a day, then came back and actually had a pretty legit Culver reunion with three other girls who happened to be in town that night. (How crazy is that? #connections). Sunday morning Meg, Hannah and I all shipped out to Amsterdam to kick-off the week.
Meg studies in Maastricht, a small city in the Netherlands, so she showed us around Amsterdam for the day then we headed up to her school. Maastricht. Was. Charming. Seriously, I loved this place. It was quiet, beautiful and a truly wonderful place for Hannah and I to wander around at a relaxed pace. We even took a bus to Aachen, Germany for a day. Being in continental Europe was amazing... everything is so accessible. Traveling by train everywhere was the dream.
Tuesday, Hannah and I bid adieu to Meg and caught a train to Belgium to meet our friend Sophie who was going to host us for the next few days. Belgium was BY FAR the most beautiful country I've ever visited, and I loved every second of it. Staying in Sophie's home was such a blessing, it was so nice to be in a real house. She lives in Brussels, but she took us out to Bruges and Antwerp as well. Brussels was my favorite city, but everything was breathtaking. Lots of waffles were consumed.
It was a wonderful adventure overall, but getting back to Dublin had a very unexpected sense of coming-home. Hannah and I were so, so happy to be back in our house again. Halloween was fun, and this week has been full of getting back into school and recovering from a week of traveling.
Love that last photo!
